Hope Vale Farm Project

Welcome to the Hope Vale Farm project.

Employment opportunities

Originally known as "Miller's Block", the site was acquired by the Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council with the goal of creating a housing sub division to ease housing pressure on residents, and a banana farm for employment and economic opportunities.

Both projects went ahead but the Banana Farm was hit by extreme weather events and was forced to close within a few years of breaking ground.

HVF is looking to produce a range of products from the farm's rich, red soil.

Fresh fruit and veg for community, citrus. finger limes and other produce for the wider market and First Nations food products to feed the visitors to the 2032 Olympics in Queensland.

We are also looking at climate adaptation, carbon farming and reducing our environmental impact when farming.

All of these aspirations will need a motivated, happy and skillful workforce in order to achieve our goals. People will be the heart of the farm and its future.

Together, We Empower

The Indigenous estate holds the key to a future that honours the past, embraces the present, and safeguards the future. By unlocking its potential, we empower Indigenous communities to flourish and contribute to a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable world.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we walk. We pay our respects to Elders past and present as we walk this journey of healing together.
